Softball - CIF Sac-Joaquin

The Mountain House High softball team moved to 3-1 early in the season with a pair of wins this past week.

The Mustangs exploded for 20 runs in a lopsided 20-2 win against Chavez High at home on Monday. Senior Madison Smith led the offense with four hits and six runs batted in, and junior Cassidy Townsley had four hits and batted in two runs.

On the mound senior Isabel Obaob went three innings striking out three and giving up two runs. Senior Liliana Martinez pitched the final two innings with four walks, two strikeouts and no runs.

On Friday the Mustangs earned a 7-5 win over West High at Mountain House High. The Mustangs had 11 hits including three for senior Mackenzie Coffman, a triple and two singles, and three for junior Cassidy Townsley. West totaled six hits, with senior Mya Camp also batting in a run.

Seniors Liliana Martinez, Isabel Obaob and Mackenzie Coffman all shared pitching duties for the Mustangs, with Coffman going four innings and allowing four earned runs while walking seven and striking out two. West senior Kayla McWhorter pitched all seven innings and allowed seven runs, none of them earned, and struck out nine batters.

Kimball 5, Ceres 3

The Kimball High Jaguars beat the Ceres High Bulldogs 5-3 at home on Tuesday. The Jaguars jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning holding Ceres to three hits behind the pitching of sophomore Briano Quintero who ended the game with 11 strikeouts and two walks.

The Kimball High offense was bolstered by senior Iolana Faasisila’s three-run home run in the first inning, with senior Emma Coronado also driving in a run. The win moves the Jaguars to 4-1 on the season

Tracy 7, Amador 0

Tracy High shut out Amador Valley 7-0 to stay undefeated on the season. The Bulldogs belted out 13 hits with doubles by junior Ava Crivello, senior Emalee Cargill and sophomore Taylor Munoz.

On the mound junior Hayden Fell pitched five innings giving up one hit, three walks and ringing up eight strikeouts. Freshman Naveah Reynoso finished the game with two hits, one walk and three strikeouts. The Bulldogs move to 4-0 on the season.

Tracy 15, Freedom 5

Tracy High took a 15-5 win against Freedom High on Thursday at the Tracy Sports Complex. Tracy had 15 hits, erupting for nine runs in the second inning for the Bulldogs’ third straight victory.

Senior Emry Couch led the Bulldog offense with two hits including a home run and four runs batted in. Junior Taylor Sansaver had three hits and batted in two runs, and sophomore Taylor Munoz doubled twice and batted in two runs.

Tracy freshman pitcher Naveah Reynoso went four innings giving up five hits and five runs, three earned, with two walks, and one strike out.

Kimball 14, Tokay 5

Kimball High beat host Tokay High 8-5 on Thursday in Lodi. Kimball pounded out 12 hits, scoring eight runs in the first inning. Juniors Briez and Saige Dodds led the way with three hits each, each batting in a run, and Senior Giselle Mallamo got two hits and batted in two.

Mallamo pitched all seven innings, allowing six hits and no walks while striking out five Tokay batters.
